The end of January found us during Catholic Schools
Week. This year’s theme was Catholic
Schools Communities of Faith, Knowledge, and Service. We all shared our faith together at opening
mass on January 26, and the students helped with mass in many ways. We also shared our faith with parents and
grandparents on Wednesday and enjoyed rolls and juice afterwards. We share our knowledge that we have with
others and the students also learn many new things each day. As a service project during the week the
students are raising money for Food for the Poor. To learn more about this project you can
visit www.foodforthepoor.org . We took up a second collection at mass and
the older students had a treat sale and all that money will be donated to this
service project. Thanks to all those who
have donated money to our service project.
The students will be making decisions on how we want to spend our money that was raised.
The students always enjoy dressing up during Catholic
Schools Week. Monday was ‘Walking with
Jesus’ and we had some funny feet that day.
The younger students at school provided entertainment to people at the
Senior Center while the older students helped wrap silverware and served the
food. The students enjoyed walking tacos
provided to them for lunch.
Tuesday was ‘Hurray!
It’s P.J. Day!’ and we got to wear our pajamas.
The students enjoyed playing bingo and having a treat of popcorn and
pop.
Wednesday was ‘Let the Holy Spirit
Guide Us From the Inside’ and we had mass with parents and grandparents and
enjoyed some yummy rolls afterwards. We
dressed with clothes inside out.
Our
final dress up day was Thursday which was St. Joe’s spirit day. We wore our St. Joe’s shirt and went bowling
in the afternoon. The second and third
graders were treated to an eloquent meal at the Sturdevant-McKee Museum. We had a busy week but, it was a great
one! Thanks for all those who helped in
any way.
