Team Jack

The K-3rd grades show their support for Team Jack with ‘High 5 Friday.’  It is so awesome to hear one if not more of my students pray for Jack every morning.

Recent Happenings

Here are a few updates of things we have been doing in school.
We celebrated our first birthday for the year at the end of August. Happy Birthday!

Grandparents Day was September 9 and to honor our grandparents each student made a heart with their handprints.  After the paint dried everyone wrote a poem around the heart.  We then worked are addressing envelopes to get them sent in the mail.

The kids enjoyed practicing their spelling words by painting them fall colors of red, orange, and yellow on black paper.

To start our second chapter in science we opened up with a lab.  To do this we used two pieces of paper.  We then placed six Kleenexes on each sheet of paper.  One paper was rolled up with just the Kleenexes.   We then placed pasta on a pipe cleaner and rolled that up with the Kleenexes in the second piece of paper.  The paper with just the Kleenexes shows an animal without a backbone and the paper with the pasta shows an animal with a backbone.  Now we have Wiggle the Worm without a backbone and Scales the Snake with a backbone.

A scholastic book order was sent home with your child today.  If you would like to order you have until September 7.  You can order online.  There is a letter attached to the book order that explains how to order online.  If you wish not to order online you can send the order back with your child along with the money.  Thanks for taking the time to look at the book order.

Cruising Into School

Have the first two days down of school.  What a great start to the year already!  The students came cruising in and made a pit stop in 2nd and 3rd grade where they will learn many new and exciting things.  The first two days were spent learning how things will run in the classroom and also getting into some of their books.

Excited to see everyone the first day of school.

Ready for the first day activity with the whole school.

Getting their treat at the end of the first day of school.

Writing in their journal for the first time.

 Thumbs up for learning!

 Reading some good books.

They made a taxi photo magnet.

Looking at their new books is exciting!

Learning to fold the flag.

Welcome Back!

School is almost here!  I have been busy preparing the past few weeks for the start of a new school year.  The classroom has a new look to it that includes vinyl in the back, new carpet, and also a fresh coat of paint.  It looks really great!  Thanks for all those who helped in any way cleaning the whole school.  It looks really nice ready for the school year to start. Anxious to see all the kids again on Thursday!  Enjoy the last few days of summer.
