Moon Phases

To help understand how the moon changes daily the students did a fun project at home.  To begin they each had a black sheet of construction paper, white crayon, a big marshmallow, and instructions for the project.  We worked on this project for a month.  To begin they had to draw boxes on their black paper with their white crayon.  Every day they were given a big marshmallow and then at night they had to look at the moon and take a bite of the marshmallow to show how big the moon was.  A whole marshmallow was a full moon and when there was a new moon they left that box blank.  After taking a bite of their marshmallow they had to glue it on to the paper and write the date.  They all seemed to enjoy this project and it was a fun activity to help see how the moon changes.
