Flat Stanley visits Arizona

Flat Stanley visited Mrs. Hacker’s daughter Megan in Phoenix Arizona. He came back with sixty-two interesting facts about Arizona.  Some interesting facts we learned:

1.       Arizona became the 48th state and last of the contiguous states on February 14, 1912.

2.       The “Five C’s” of Arizona’s economy are: Cattle, Copper, Citrus, Cotton, and Climate.

3.       Arizona grows enough cotton each year to make more than one pair of jeans for every person in the United States.

4.       The only place in the country where mail is delivered by mule is the village of Supai, located at the bottom of the Grand Canyon.

5.       A saguaro cactus can store up to nine tons of water.
We thought it was very neat that Stanley was able to see a saguaro cactus since we have studied about them in science.

Be sure to stop in at school and read the rest of the facts about Arizona.  Thank you Megan for being a host to Flat Stanley!
