Flat Stanley visits Madison, WI

Laura and Brian were great hosts to Flat Stanley while he visited the Badger State capital of Madison, Wisconsin.  Stanley learned what life was like living in an apartment.  He describes to us that an apartment is a building where many families make their homes.  He arrived in the middle of October and was able to see all the pretty fall colors as Wisconsin has many trees.

One of the highlights he enjoyed was attending a farmer’s market.  At a farmer’s market there are many people who sell their fresh vegetables and fruits.  Some people also have baked goods to sell also.  While Stanley was there he was able to meet President Barack Obama.  What was really neat though was that it was a flat Barack Obama just like Flat Stanley!  Since it was close to the election people were there campaigning for the presidential election.

Stanley was also able to see the capitol building in Madison.  He was able to see the large dome inside and the fancy corridors which was really neat!

Since Stanley was in a big city he was able to see the musical Jersey Boys.  He even brought back the ticket to show us where he sat at.  A musical is like a play with professional actors.  The musical was a true story about four teenage boys who form a band named The Four Seasons in the 1960’s.

While Stanley was enjoying see all the wonderful things you can do in Madison he also had to work.  He spent an evening with Laura at the University of Wisconsin studying for science.  He loved learning about the periodic table of elements and why science is important to study.  So he wants to remind the students to study hard now so they can maybe one day grow up to study science.

Stanley wishes to send out a big THANK YOU to Laura and Brain for their great hospitality while visiting Madison.  It was great to visit and learn more about different parts of the world.
